Obituary for Carolyn Mildred Honaker (Marsden)
Bangor – Carolyn Mildred Honaker, the oldest child of Phyllis (Alden) Marsden and Albert Marsden, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 19, 2022, at the age of 80-years-old. Carolyn was born in Lewiston, Maine and lived the first 10 years of her life in Auburn, Maine. In 1951 her family moved to Turner where she spent the rest of her childhood. Carolyn attended school in the Turner system, graduating from Leavitt Institute in 1959. Carolyn was an excellent student who was involved in many school activities. In 1961 Carolyn was introduced to a young sailor visiting a friend in Turner while on leave. Scott Honaker and Carolyn were married one month later, and they moved first to Philadelphia, PA and then to Norfolk, VA, while Scott finished his tour in the Navy. The Honakers moved back to Turner in 1963 and over the next few decades Carolyn worked as a bookkeeper, was the Turner town Clerk for 12 years, and later opened her own business, CMH Bookkeeping, which she ran until 1998. She was involved in many town organizations including the Leavitt Football Boosters and the Turner Universalist Church where she was the treasurer for the church, ran the youth group and played piano for the Sunday School for many years. After the death of her husband in 2018, Carolyn moved to Bangor, Maine to live near her daughter. Carolyn is survived by her daughter Trish and son Scott, grandchildren, Alex, Anthony, Aaron, Ashton, Ethan, and Jared, great-granddaughter Olivia, and brother Dan Wells.
