Auburn – Denise Marie Schaefer, 71, of Monmouth passed away Tuesday, January 3rd at Hospice House of Androscoggin in Auburn, Maine. She was born June 26, 1951 in Milford, Massachusetts, the daughter of Henry R. Melin and Doris E. (Carpentier) Melin. She was a graduate of King Philip Regional High School in Wrentham, Massachusetts. Denise had worked as a secretary for the Foxboro Company in Foxboro, Massachusetts and most recently as a customer service representative at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Lewiston, Maine, having to leave due to health issues. Denise had lived in Wrentham for many years, later relocating to California, New Hampshire and Maine where she had lived for the past 10 years. She had a great love for animals, especially her dogs, cats and her show horse Easter. She enjoyed gardening, horseback riding, flea markets, fishing, playing cards and drawing. She is survived by her grandchildren, Richard and his wife of Florida, Katrina and her husband, CiCi and her partner, and Ivan all of New Hampshire. Also extended family in Massachusetts. A special thanks to the Hospice House of Androscoggin for all the wonderful care given to Denise during her stay there. Also to her friend Kelli Springer of Monmouth, Maine who was there for Denise during her difficult journey, as well as the many friends and co-workers. She was predeceased by her father, Henry R.
