Lewiston – Ina R. Asselin, 74, a resident Jay, passed away Saturday, August 27, 2022, at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston. She was born January 6, 1948, in Farmington, the daughter of Merton Harris and Vere (Batchelder) Harris. She graduated from Stratton High School and received her associate degree from Central Maine Technical College in Auburn. On June 2, 1967, she married Walter C. Asselin. They enjoyed 38 years together before his passing on January 25, 2006. Through the years Ina worked at Bass Shoe, Livermore Falls Shoe, and Falcon Shoe Company. She was a member of the Pythian Sisters in Stratton and the Amvets Post 33 Auxiliary in Jay. She enjoyed Diamond Dot, crafts, hunting, fishing, gardening, and spending time with her family. She is survived by her daughters, Rhonda Schmidt of Buckfield and Cheryl Schmidt and husband Corey of Fayette, her stepdaughter, Bonnie Chassie and husband Tom of Mexico, 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Walter, stepson, George Legere, twin daughters, Mary and Marie Asselin and her brother Leo Harris.
