Janice Elaine (Arsenault) Cote
1959 – 2022
Portland – Janice E. Cote, 63, a resident of Jay, passed away November 24, 2022, at Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine. On Thanksgiving Night, surrounded by family, Jan’s incredibly giving heart gave its last. Jan was born November 20, 1959, in Rumford, the daughter of James and Ann (Allen) Arsenault of Canton. Jan graduated from Dirigo High School and worked in a variety of jobs, but she most enjoyed providing service to others. Her most recent employment was for LaFleur’s Restaurant in Jay, where many of her customers quickly became friends. Daniel Cote, the greatest love of her life, married Jan on October 1, 2016, at the Norlands in Livermore, and together they settled in Jay. They enjoyed long walks, lively Scrabble games, and spending time on their deck, but most of all being with family and friends. All who knew her often described Jan as the most sincere, loving, and thoughtful person they had ever met.
She is survived by her husband Dan Cote of Jay, her two stepsons, Randy Cote of Leeds and Todd Cote and his wife Mia of Wales, Jan’s two adored step-granddaughters, Anika and Elise, four siblings: Pat Foster and husband Joel of Sebring, FL; Gil Arsenault and wife Kay Herbert of Sumner; Vicki Rabisauckas and husband Al of Rotonda West, FL; and Joyce Arsenault and wife Anita Whitney-Arsenault of Augusta. Also close to her heart were her nephews and nieces: Ben and Matt, Chris and Heather, and “Connecticut nieces” Dee Dee, Sandra, and Michelle.
Of the Cote family (whom she also deeply loved), are Jan’s three sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Frazier and husband Richard of Jay, Linda Iannucci and husband Donato of Old Orchard Beach, and Pamela Jamison and husband Robert of Livermore, two brothers-in-law, Timothy and his wife Deb of Livermore, and Mike and wife Kim of Livermore. Of the many Cote nieces and nephews, Jan was especially fond of Darcy, Tammy and husband Darien, and Marissa. Jan was predeceased by her parents, her sister Sandy Martinez, sister-in-law Donna Driscoll and brother-in-law James Cote. Last but certainly not least, was her much loved companion of many years, her cat Clarissa.
