Livermore Falls – Jeannine (Reed) Wilkins, 81, a resident of Livermore Falls, passed away Thursday, March 9, 2023, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 2, 1941, in Chisholm, the daughter of James K. and Grace (Berube) Reed. Jeannine attended St. Rose of Lima schools, was a 1960 graduate of Jay High School, and graduated from University of Maine Farmington. On November 25, 1961, at St. Rose of Lima in Jay, she married Hersey Wilkins. She taught at Greene and Leeds schools. After teaching she worked for the United States Postal Service and was a Postmaster in Turner, Wilton, and Jay for many years before her retirement in 2001. Jeannine was a communicant of the St. Rose of Lima Church and a member of the Daughters of Isabella. She enjoyed shopping, reading, watching the basketball tournaments every February, attending her kids’ events, going for a ride and grabbing a bite to eat, and spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and grand dogs. She also enjoyed traveling to the coast and to South Carolina to visit family. Following her retirement from the post office, Jeannine and Hersey would take daily evening walks through Holy Cross Cemetery. Jeannine is survived by her husband of 61 years, Hersey Wilkins of Livermore Falls, son Ryan Wilkins and wife Jennifer of Jay, daughter Kary Franchetti and husband David of Turner, granddaughter Laura Wilkins (Myles) of Saco, grandson Owen Wilkins, 2 great grandchildren Lilah and Mateo, sisters-in-law Marcia Hamblin and husband Ed of Livermore, Vivian Fuller of Auburn, and Arlene Wilkins and companion Tom Randall of Livermore Falls, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, son Darren H. Wilkins, her brother Ed Reed and wife Nancy, her sisters Mary “Betty” Mullins and husband William “Ted”, Arlene Dysart and husband Charlie, Doris Girardin and husband Norman, and Louise O’Quinn and husband Chuck, and several nieces and nephews. Wilkins – Jeannine (Reed), 81, of Livermore Falls, Maine passed away March 9, 2023, at her home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, March 13, 2023, at St. Rose of Lima Church, 1 Church Street, Jay, Maine. Visitation from 10AM-11AM, prior to the mass at St. Rose.
