Obituary for Maxine Ella Baston

Jay – Maxine Ella Baston, 82, a resident of Jay, passed away peacefully, Thursday, August 4th at her residence with her loving daughter by her side. She was born September 20, 1939, in Farmington, the daughter of Erwin Fitch and Nettie (Bean) Fitch. She attended Wilton Academy, fell in love, married, and had 5 daughters with Raynold Blodgett. While raising her family she worked in Social Services and Adult Basic Reading. She was a Girl Scout Leader for 10 years which she enjoyed with her daughters. She enjoyed many activities such as sewing skiing, skating, hiking, camping, traveling, and golf. She also enjoyed painting and capturing EVERYTHING in photos. She rode motorcycles and any dirt bike or 4Wheeler she could get her hands on, hence the nickname “MAD MAX.” She even drove school bus for a time before buying Shiretown Pizza with her beloved husband of 26 years, Richard Baston. She enjoyed 21 years of pizza dough tossing with all the family, especially the grandchildren. Maxine’s pride and joy was her family and she enjoyed following her children’s and grandchildren’s activities and achievements. She had a zest for life and was always smiling. Maxine is survived by her daughters, Patti Hill of Wilmington, NC, Bonnie-Rae Blodgett of Auburn, Diane Shirey of Lake Park, FL., Raylene Blodgett of Jay, and Pamela Blodgett-Tracy and husband Russell of Canton, 11 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. Maxine was predeceased by her parents, her husband Richard Baston, brothers, Erwin, George, Donald, and Kenneth Fitch, her sister, Kathleen Slater, and grandsons, Dakota Smith, Zachary Blodgett, and Nicholas McGrane. Baston – Maxine Ella, 82 of Jay, Maine passed away August 4, 2022. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held from 12-4PM on Saturday, August 27, 2022, at the Lions Club, 364 Main Street, Wilton, Maine. A JW Service will be announced at a later date.
