Obituary for Nancy A. Blodgett

Cocoa Beach, FL. – Nancy A. Blodgett, 73, a resident of Livermore Falls passed away suddenly, Saturday, February 4, 2023, at Cape Canaveral Hospital following a medical event. She was born March 9, 1949, in Jay, the daughter of Richard Bryant and Hattie (Slovak) Bryant. Nancy was a 1967 graduate of Jay High School and attended 3 years at Gorham State Teachers College. On September 5, 1970, at St. Mary’s Church in Wilton, she married Stephen P. Blodgett. Nancy worked at Otis Federal Credit Union for 38 years, retiring in June of 2015 as Vice President and receiving the Jeannette G. Morin Award for Outstanding CU Employee. Nancy was currently serving on the Otis Federal Credit Union Supervisory Committee joining in 2016. Nancy Blodgett began her career at the Otis Federal Credit Union in January of 1977, she dedicated her work life to OTIS FCU members. From teller to Vice President of Otis Federal Credit Union Nancy has always stepped up to take on new responsibilities and duties. In the early years, her job description most likely did not exist, but she understood that it was always about her helping the members. That is what she did and as the credit union grew adding new services and products Nancy assisted in the implementation and advocating that members come first. Nancy led a strong lending team over the years, she contributed her success as the leader of the loan department was that she treated her employees more as family, her children, rather than employees of the credit union. Stepping up to help with the many fund raisers and local events over the years Nancy contributed her time and donations to help others. She participated and raised money for Otis FCU March of Dimes team for many years. Giving and raising money for Ending Hunger, by participating and aiding with the basket bingo, basket calendar and by cooking wonderful pastries to sell during our various bakes sales such as our Soup & Chowder days. She was one of the firsts to volunteer at the Special Olympics Spring Games in Jay, being there to serve and clean up on the last Saturday of January as the local Special Olympians headed off to the winter games at Sugarloaf. Nancy was always helping, only missing “maybe” one event so she could attend her granddaughter’s basketball game. She will be remembered for all that institutional history and knowledge that she had shared regarding OTIS FCU. Her ability to greet members by name and knowing their account numbers and sometimes even what they want before they asked, has allowed her to offer long time members the ultimate personal service. Nancy also volunteered at the Maine Credit Union League where she was involved with Governmental Affairs. The League’s Governmental Affairs Department takes an active role in legislative and regulatory issues and activities of interest to Maine’s Credit Unions and the Credit Union movement at the local, state, and national level. She was active in Augusta, Maine and attended the annual conferences in Washington, DC. She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay and former member of the Livermore Falls Fire Department Auxiliary. She enjoyed travelling with her husband Stephen and her grandchildren and wintering in Cocoa Beach. Nancy was a devoted grandmother and loved following her granddaughter Alexis and grandson Jayden’s sporting events. She was also a lifelong follower of local high school sports, most recently Spruce Mountain High School. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Stephen P. Blodgett of Livermore Falls, daughter Beth Perreault and husband Doug of Livermore Falls, son Bryan Blodgett of Buxton, granddaughter Alexis Blodgett of Lewiston, grandson Jayden Perreault of Livermore Falls, her brother Raymond Bryant and wife Aline of Jay, sisters Linda Ouellette and husband Rosario of Jay and Jan Woods and husband Jerry of Henderson, NV, and several nieces and nephews.
