Obituary for Norman S. King

Livermore Falls – Norman S. King, 97, a resident of Livermore Falls passed away Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at his home. He was born on June 5, 1924, in Berlin, New Hampshire, the son of Bert and Mary (Stenburg) King. He was raised and attended school in Jay, Maine. Norman proudly enlisted in the US Army on December 8, 1942 and served as tank driver in the 777th Tank Battalion. He helped to liberate occupied France and onto Leipzig. He served bravely through the end of the war. Prior to going overseas, he was stationed in Fort Knox in Kentucky where he met the love of his life, Mary Ellen Chambers. They were married on December 22, 1945, in Louisville Kentucky. They enjoyed 76 years of marriage before his passing. Norman worked for International Paper for 44 years before retiring in December of 1983. Known as the “King of the Wood Room” he was a supervisor in the wood yard, wood room, and in ground wood. He was a member of the Quarter Century Club at International Paper, a lifetime member of the VFW and a member of the First Baptist Church of Livermore Falls. He and Mary enjoyed 29 winters in Florida after his retirement. He was an avid golfer and he and Mary loved music and dancing. He is survived by his wife, Mary King of Livermore Falls, daughter, Kay King Watson and husband Mike of Jay, 3 grandchildren, Mary Beeaker of Portland, Alison Ginsberg and husband David of Cumberland, William “Billy” Beeaker and wife Amy Kelley of Monson, and 2 great-grandchildren, Simon Beeaker and Leonard Norman Ginsberg. King – Norman S., 97, of Livermore Falls, Maine passed away December 21, 2021, at his home. Funeral services will be held at 12PM, on Thursday, December 23, 2021, at the First Baptist Church of Livermore Falls, 25 Church Street, Livermore Falls. Visitation will be from 11AM-12PM prior to the funeral service. Arrangements by FINLEY FUNERAL HOME, 15 Church Street, Livermore Falls, Maine. Interment with Full Military Honors will be held in the spring at Pleasant View Cemetery, 51 Fayette Road, Livermore Falls, Maine.
