Obituary for Paul L. Chretien

Farmington – Paul L. Chretien, one of the most caring, kindest, and generous guys his friends and family have ever known, passed away on May 12, 2022, at the age of 76. He was born the son of Leo and Evette (LePage) Chretien, in Livermore Falls on April 30, 1946. He was a 1964 graduate of Livermore Falls High School. He was honourably discharged from the Army after serving in Vietnam from 1967-1968, having later been seriously affected by Agent Orange. For 38 years he worked as a millwright at International Paper in Jay. Having beaten cancer in 2007, he kept a most positive outlook on life even after the loss of much of what we all take for granted. Paul was also involved in the antiques business and in operating the family greenhouse operation. He loved to dance. Paul was a dedicated life member of the Frank L. Mitchell VFW Post #3335 in Jay, having served in several offices and working tirelessly to support the post. Paul was also a life member of the Amvets Post 33 in Jay, and a former member of the Livermore Falls Fire Department. He was very generous to all who knew him…almost to a fault. On August 10, 2013, he married his long-time partner, Dale Farrar. Paul is survived by his spouse, Dale Farrar of Livermore Falls; his brothers, Albert (Jeanne) of Livermore and Gerard (Susan) of Livermore Falls, and many much-loved nieces and nephews. He had a truly wonderful extended family of many friends. He will be sadly missed by his three Boston Terriers, Flo, Bambi, and Autumn. He was predeceased by his parents, his sister Germaine Murphy, his brother Roland Chretien, and his sister-in-law, Sandra Chretien. In honour of Paul please appreciate even the smallest treasures in life. Messages of condolence may be sent to: www.finleyfuneralhome.com
