Obituary for Richard J. Fournier

Farmington - Richard Joseph Fournier entered Eternal Life on December 9, 2021 at the age of 84. Son of the late Napoleon Fournier and Aurore (Caron) Fournier, he was born on December 23,1936 in Chisholm Maine. He was a devout Catholic and active member of St. Rose of Lima Church. He attended St. Rose Catholic school, graduating from Jay High School in 1957. Upon graduation he proudly served in the United States Army returning to his hometown following his dedicated service to settle near his family. He was a devoted son to his Mother: widowed when he was just a teenager. He worked at International Paper and Bath Iron Works before retiring. On September 1, 1962, Richard and Betsy McGinty were united in Holy Matrimony. He was a devoted and loving husband. They were blessed with four children and later nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was devoted to his family and especially adored his children and grandchildren who would light up his face when they entered the room. He was an exceptionally fun Pepere: delighting in making them laugh - and was very successful at it. His wonderful sense of humor would put anybody at ease. His grandchildren cherish the many trips he would take with them to the playground or the backyard and board games he would play. A particularly special memory were trips to Disney World, one of his favorite places to go with his children and grandchildren. These were much cherished trips. He was a wonderful cook and everyone enjoyed his home cooked dishes; his Chop Suey being a favorite of his grandchildren. We will forever be grateful for his unconditional love, for teaching us what’s important, to love unconditionally, live with integrity, honesty and compassion. His beautiful life and endless love for his family will live with us in our hearts and minds until we see him again. Richard is survived by his wife, Betsy, children; Kelli and husband William Gats, Michelle and husband John LeBlanc, Rhonda and husband David Norman, Jason Fournier and wife Jessie, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were so dear to him and his twin brother Raymond Fournier (wife Barbara) with whom he shared a unique bond - an irreplaceable relationship. He is preceded in death by his parents Napoleon and Aurore Fournier, brothers Herve, Roger and Maurice Fournier, Sisters Florence Mollicone and Therese Poulin and his niece Jane Fournier. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him. The Family is especially grateful to the staff at Edgewood Rehabilitation & Living Center for their outstanding care and compassion during his stay and final days.
