Obituary for Wanda N. Dunham (Hall)

Wanda N. Dunham (Hall)
Auburn - Wanda N. Dunham, 51 of Greene found the rest that she so deserved on Saturday December 24th, 2017 at the Hospice House in Auburn after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. She was the youngest child of Robert and Judith (Stevens) Hall, born in Lewiston on November 27th, 1966. Wanda attended Leavitt Area High School where in 1985 she graduated fifth in her class. On August 1st of 1987, Wanda married Mark, The Love of Her Life. In 1990, she and Mark moved back to her childhood home in Greene. There she and Mark would raise 3 wonderful boys into the men that they are today. Wanda found employment for many years as a medical transcriptionist. She worked for CMMC and Maine General Hospitals, respectively returning to CMMC in the surgical office for a while. Restless and tiring of the medical profession, Wanda found employment in the Varney Insurance Agency in Auburn. Wanda had worked in the insurance field shortly after high school and sought to return. Wanda performed receptionist duties at Varney and had recently obtained her agents license before her diagnosis of this awful disease. Her Varney Family meant a great deal to her during her battle with cancer. Words cannot express the gratitude for their support during this struggle! Wanda was the quiet one to most but she loved her music. If she wasn’t against the barricade at rock concerts, then she wasn’t close enough to the stage. She was a beach goer in the summers, and often packed up the family station wagon with her kids and boogie boards and headed to one of her favorite beach spots. Wanda found hunting and fishing later in life and showed some that you can wear earrings and makeup with camo. Wanda found her way into the hunting fraternity known as Bear Camp. Known as “Mama Bear” to those at camp, she was treated as a queen in this often male dominated endeavor. Wanda enjoyed spending time with her husband Mark, sharing in the sports that he so loved. From watching football games on the bleachers of various high schools, to fishing from the seats of their grand lake canoe, they were always together.
Wanda loved her children dearly! From transportation to guitar lessons or football practice, shopping excursions or just helping them with homework, Wanda was a role model for what a Mom should be. “Mimi” was a more recent nickname for Wanda. Four grandchildren would call her this. She held a very special place for them in her heart. Nieces and Nephews were special as well. She so loved her kids….all of them!
Wanda is survived by her parents. Her father Robert A. Hall and wife Elaine of Lisbon along with her Mother Judith Lyons and husband Myron of Greene. A brother Robert M. Hall and wife Michele of Leeds, a sister Naomi Hall and partner Matt Lux of Sabattus. She will be missed greatly by her husband Mark, of Greene. Three sons, Kyle and wife Michelle of Auburn, Kristopher and wife Michaela of Auburn, Joshua and partner Tianna LaRoche of Lewiston. Four grandchildren will miss their “Mimi”. She will be in your hearts as well as watching over you from above, Teo, Daniel, Sloane and Joelle. Nieces and Nephews are; Matt, Stephanie and Nicholas Hall along with Addam and Amanda Dunham. Wanda held a special place in her heart for her In-Laws. She will be sadly missed by her Father-in-law Larry Dunham of North Monmouth as well as a Brother-in-law Darold Dunham and his wife Melissa of New Hampshire. Wanda was predeceased by her Mother-in-law Nancy Dunham of North Monmouth.
The family would like to thank all who supported Wanda through her battle with cancer. Wanda’s Faith was what kept her strong through her days of doubt and despair. Though not members of Grace Community Church in Auburn, Wanda and Mark would still call it home. The Prayers and support of all at Grace Community meant so much to her and her family during her courageous fight against cancer. Thanks goes out to all of her doctors and nurses at Women’s Health and Maine Medical Center along with the many friends and family that were there for her (us) in times of need! Thanks as well to her recent care team at CMMC along with all of the great people at the Hospice House in Auburn. She was so blessed to have the Love and support of so many!
