Obituary for Wayne D. Sherman

Wales – It is with unfathomable sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved husband and father Wayne D. Sherman, 76, of Wales on Sunday, January 16, 2022, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 17, 1945, in Lewiston, to Charles A. and Lena D. Sherman. He was a 1971 graduate of University of Maine at Portland-Gorham. On June 12, 1971, at the Wales Presbyterian Church he married Linda S. Sherman (Plaisted). He grew up helping on the family dairy farm and taught at Wales Central School for more than 20 years. He was a lifelong member and Past Master of Wales Grange # 40, Patrons of Husbandry, Past Master of Androscoggin Pomona # 1, and Past State Chaplain of the Maine State Grange. Wayne was also a member and Past Chaplain of Webster Masonic Lodge #164 and a member of the Wales Presbyterian Church. Wayne enjoyed traveling with his wife and family. He was a New England Fan – supporting the Red Sox and Patriots when they played. He was a collector of many things and relished visiting historical locations across New England and beyond. He spent many hours working in his garden and always considered himself a farmer at heart. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Linda S. Sherman (Plaisted); daughter, Hilarie A. Sherman (Baker); son, Ryan W. Sherman and his wife Renee; granddaughter, Ashleigh Baker; Sister, Phyllis Hodgkin and her husband Doug; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
