Obituary for Wilton A. Black

Litchfield – Wilton “Sonny” A. Black, 88, a resident of Litchfield, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, with his loving family by his side. Sonny was born June 30, 1934, to W. Russell & Edna (Brown) Black. He was educated in Litchfield schools and graduated from Litchfield Academy in 1952. He married Arlene Hall in 1953 and together they raised 3 Children. On September 20, 1981, he married Cynthia Blaisdell and helped raise her 3 children. He served in the US Navy for 8 years. He went to 1 year of night school at Auburn Maine School of Commerce. He worked many years with his father Russell in many aspects of farming including haying, poultry, and cattle business. In 1957 he started his own livestock business and worked that business until the end. He enjoyed his family very much. He spent endless hours teaching family members how to waterski. He loved dancing, snowmobiling, the Tacoma Lake Camp, playing basketball with his hay crew after being in the hayfield all day, hayrides with his children, his grandchildren, and friends. He loved working the Old McDonald Farm at the Litchfield Fair for 30 Years and various places that asked him. He belonged to Litchfield Morning Star Lodge#41, Litchfield Snowmobile Club, Litchfield Fair Association, and the Litchfield Grange. He was an amazingly patient man who loved his farm life which included haying, cows, goats, and chickens. He & Cyndi loved their peaceful life together. He was predeceased by his Mother Edna, Father Russell, Brother Bob, Sister Alberta, Sister Milly, stepdaughter Martha Donovan, grandson Jay, nephews Ken and Christopher, nephew Russell, and great granddaughter Kailyn. He is survived by his wife of 41 years Cynthia, daughter Mary Cray and husband Wes, daughter Helen Markham and husband Rodney, son Randy Black and wife Robin, stepdaughter Charlene Brown and husband Mark, stepson Mike and wife Jenn, several grandchildren and great grandchildren, and siblings Ruth, Earl, Lester, and Caroline. Funeral services with Military Honors will be held at 2PM on Sunday, November 6, 2022, at the Litchfield Plains Baptist Church, 56 Plains Road, Litchfield, Maine. Interment at Litchfield Plains Cemetery, Litchfield, Maine. Arrangements by the BRAGDON-FINLEY FUNERAL HOME, 707 Main Street, Monmouth, Maine.
